Assessing student writing is a time consuming and tedious task, especially in a classroom full of diverse learners. With WriQ, teachers can instantly assess student writing, provide valuable feedback, and track progress over time, directly from Google Docs!

WriQ is a Chrome extension that analyzes  documents for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors, in addition to providing helpful metrics like time on task, vocabulary maturity and more. It also includes  rubrics designed by researchers and a summary and feedback area. Additional features to be released include comparative writing norms, customized rubrics, customized dashboard area, and a student version.

This session will include a discussion around the challenges of writing and scoring student writing and a demonstration of WriQ.
